Master Gardeners

The Master Gardener program in Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties is a Washington State University Extension program that helps gardeners learn more about the art and science of growing and caring for plants. It also enables these trained volunteers to extend sustainable gardening information to their communities through educational outreach programs.

Washington State University Master Gardeners:

  • Provide non-biased, science-based gardening information to the public.
  • Diagnose plant problems and provide sustainable solutions to home gardeners.
  • Design and present educational programs on a wide variety of home gardening topics such as Integrated Pest Management (IPM), yard waste management and composting, water quality protection, and gardening with children, youth, and adults.
  • Provide a window to research and education at Washington State University.

WSU Master Gardeners in Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties:

  • Belong to a non-profit organization staffed 100% by volunteers. In the Grays Harbor and Pacific County Program there are over 120 active WSU Master Gardeners.
  • Are trained by WSU Extension faculty and industry professionals.
  • Are part of a state-wide Master Gardener program in 34 of Washington's 30 counties.


Washington State University Extension Master Gardener volunteers provide non-biased, research-based information on home horticulture and environmental stewardship in Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties, Washington. The purpose of this non-profit foundation is educational: to enhance the Washington State University Master Gardener outreach program and to make our homes and communities as healthy and beautiful as possible.
